James' Wheelchair Van

My name is James. May 2nd, 2014, I was with a small group of friends cliff diving off of a small waterfall.

Unfortunately, I hit my head on a rock and fractured my C5 and C6 vertebrae which left me paralyzed from the chest down. About 3 months after I became paralyzed, my wife left me. So, not only did I have to learn to adapt to a life of paralysis, I also had to learn to be a single dad to 9 and 11-year-old boys that I had custody of from a previous relationship. Recently, my wheelchair van caught fire and burned to the ground. Shortly after, my power wheelchair was stolen off my front porch. Unfortunately, Even with a police report, Medicare wouldn't allow me to get another power chair because it hadn't been 5 years since I got that one. So, I guess you could say that I haven't had the best of luck.
